To ensure the best burn experience and maximize the life of your candle, follow these simple care instructions:
1. Trim the Wick
Before each use, trim the wick to approximately 1/4 inch. This will help your candle burn more evenly, reduce soot, and prevent the flame from becoming too large. Use a wick trimmer, scissors, or your fingers to trim the wick.
2. Burn for 2-4 Hours
When lighting your candle for the first time, allow it to burn for 2-4 hours. This ensures the wax melts evenly across the surface, preventing tunneling and ensuring a smooth, even burn for the life of the candle.
Note: Never burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time to avoid overheating and wax wastage.
3. Keep Candles Away from Drafts
Avoid placing your candle in areas with drafts, such as near windows, vents, or air conditioning. Drafts can cause the candle to burn unevenly, flicker, or produce excess soot.
4. Never Leave a Burning Candle Unattended
Always keep a burning candle in sight. Never leave a candle burning unattended, and always extinguish the flame before leaving a room or going to bed.
5. Keep Out of Reach of Children and Pets
For safety, keep burning candles out of reach of children and pets. Ensure the candle is placed on a stable, heat-resistant surface to prevent accidental tipping.
6. Extinguish Safely
To extinguish your candle, use a wick dipper, snuffer, or gently blow out the flame. Avoid blowing too hard, as this can cause wax to splatter and the wick to smoke. Allow the candle to cool before relighting.
7. Store Properly
Store your candle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or extreme temperatures. Exposure to sunlight or heat can cause the wax to fade or warp, affecting both the fragrance and appearance.
8. Dispose of Properly
When the candle has burned down to about 1/2 inch of wax, it’s time to dispose of the container. Never try to burn a candle that is too low, as this could lead to overheating and potential damage to the container.
9. Clean the Jar (Optional)
Once your candle is finished, clean the container with warm water and soap. You can repurpose the jar for storage or as a decorative piece!
